New since 31 Aug 2026: You must apply at the Thai mission responsible for your country of citizenship or permanent residence. Applications from third countries (the classic Laos trip) are rejected. A police clearance certificate is now mandatory.

Classic mistake: everything is ready, but the certificate is too old.

For Soft Power applications, Munich additionally requires the DBD company registration extract of the Thai school, signed and stamped, not older than 6 months. This is where most German Soft Power applications fail.
For Workcation applications, Munich requires the employment contract and company documents to be legalised by the embassy of the employer's country.

London requires non-British applicants to prove Indefinite Leave to Remain or an equivalent permanent residence.

Most common reasons for rejection

Money deposited shortly before applying

The most common reason. The 500,000 THB must be stable on the account for at least three months. A balance on the statement date is not enough.

Vague freelance documents

A self-declaration without contracts, invoices or client registration extracts does not carry a Workcation application.

Unrecognised Soft Power provider

The school must be registered and able to provide its documents. Check this before booking and before paying.

Application in the wrong country

Since 31 August 2026 only in the country of citizenship or permanent residence. Third-country applications are rejected.

Missing or outdated police certificate

Mandatory only since August 2026 and therefore the most overlooked point. Lead times range from days to three months.

Wrong account type

Business, brokerage and crypto accounts are not accepted, even if the amount is correct.
